Celestial Bodies go to the Celestial Kingdom
Doctrine: Things that can abide a Celestial Law will inherit the Celestial Kingdom
By: Jessica Marchant
Imagine your father giving you a new car when you were 17. He told you that you needed to take care of it, and that it was a test. There was an instruction book on how to take care of it and the problems that would come up, and that at some time in the future he would come and see how well you had done in taking care of the car. If you did a good job you could get a brand new car, that had no problems, and had "super-car" powers. But if you took care of it poorly, the rewards would also go down.
Now, its obvious what I am comparing the car to...but think about it really. This car given to you was not perfect, it might have even been given to you with some problems, or future possible problems. We all know it couldnt just be left alone and all of the sudden become a brand new car one day. Now, even if we didnt do a lot wrong...the wear and tear of daily driving and using of the car, we know it would one day break down...or break down many times along the way, but the most important part, it wouldnt be in tip top shape the day our Father comes back to look at it.
Ok, we've thought about it.....we all know:
- the car might have problems but we still need to work with it
- you can't just "not do wrong things" to keep the car in top shape
- constant care of the car is needed, or it will break down
- the reward at the end is not because of us making the car perfect, but by how well we improved upon and took care of what we had

So what doctrines will give me motivation to take better care of my body?
well the list can go on for a long time, but i'll expound one here:
D&C 88:28
"28They who are of a celestial aspirit shall receive the same bbodywhich was a natural body; even ye shall receive your bodies, and your cglory shall be that glory by which your bodies aredquickened."
D&C 88:22-24
"22For he who is not able to abide the alaw of a celestial kingdom cannot babide a ccelestial glory.
24And he who cannot abide the law of a atelestial bkingdom cannot abide a telestial cglory; therefore he is not meet for a kingdom of glory. Therefore he must abide a kingdom which is not a kingdom of glory."
The doctrine here states that if we live a Celestial life, then we can go to the Celestial Kingdom. It never states, konw all the scriptures, go to the temple more...nope, it says that we must "abide the law of the Celestial Kingdom"...which means that it applies to EVERY aspect of our lives...especially pertaining to the wonderful gift of a body that Heavenly Father gave us.

Alma 41:2-3
"2I say unto thee, my son, that the plan of restoration is requisite with the justice of God; for it is requisite that all things should be restored to their proper order. Behold, it is requisite and just, according to the power and resurrection of Christ, that the soul of man should be restored to its body, and that every apart of the body should be restored to itself.
"3And it is requisite with the ajustice of God that men should bebjudged according to their cworks; and if their works were good in this life, and the desires of their hearts were good, that they should also, at the last day, be drestored unto that which is good.
4And if their works are evil they shall be arestored unto them for evil. Therefore, all things shall be brestored to their proper order, every thing to its natural frame—cmortality raised to dimmortality, ecorruption to incorruption—raised to fendless happiness toginherit the kingdom of God, or to endless misery to inherit the kingdom of the devil, the one on one hand, the other on the other—
5The one raised to ahappiness according to his desires of happiness, or good according to his desires of good; and the other to evil according to his desires of evil; for as he has desired to do evil all the day long even so shall he have his reward of evil when the night cometh."
Alma 40:23"23The asoul shall be brestored to the cbody, and the body to the soul; yea, and every limb and joint shall be restored to its body; yea, even a dhair of the head shall not be lost; but all things shall be restored to their proper and eperfect frame.'
Imagine the car theory again:
Could we really see our Father giving us that "super-car" with its super car powers, when we couldnt even handle taking care of the one that he had given us? Alma expounds this wonderfully:
Alma 5:15-16
"15Do ye exercise faith in the redemption of him who acreatedyou? Do you look forward with an eye of faith, and view this mortal body raised in immortality, and this corruption braised in incorruption, to stand before God to be cjudged according to the deeds which have been done in the mortal body?
16I say unto you, can you imagine to yourselves that ye hear the voice of the Lord, saying unto you, in that day: Come unto me yeablessed, for behold, your works have been the works of righteousness upon the face of the earth?"
One day I realized...my Celestial Body is going to be amazing. its going to have some amazing powers, what if I use them unrighteously? what if I create wicked things...then I realized that Heavenly Father is not going to let me have all those powers and such an amazing body unless he knows I can handle it. How will he know I can handle it? He can see how I treated this body...how well I controlled the carnal desires i had, and how well i took care of it.
So how are we supposed to take care of our bodies? Where is this instruction book?
The scriptures. Remember the quote? If we study truths, we can apply them into our lives, although it is temporal physical things, ....ive heard it said many times "all truth can be circumscribed into one great hole"...and this includes things pertaining to health.

D&C 88:124
"124Cease to be aidle; cease to be bunclean; cease to cfind fault one with another; cease to dsleep longer than is needful; retire to thy bed early, that ye may not be weary; arise early, that your bodies and your minds may be einvigorated. '
