Easy Tricks to make life Easier

So we all live life

We all learn things

If you happen to be a frequent mother's lounge visitor, you'll learn even more things
#imissthemotherslounge

But if you come to my house, you'll learn probably more than you want to know about all different sorts of stuff

I love talking about things I've learned!

I have a theory that people have an innate need to be understood. We have this world that goes on inside of our heads that we want to share with others. Some have less going on in their minds (ie men) #nothatisnotashutdown #menarejustsupersimple and others have tons going on (ie women, especially moms). When we think things or experience things, some of us need to tell someone about it to have it resolved in their minds. Some people like to share what happened. I like to explain things.

Like i have said before I love to research (which i have shared much of my research with you before)
but today, I am going to share different type of things....i'm going to share a few of my favorite things I have found out in life that make my life easier and more enjoyable :)

enjoy!

**************
Here is how I organize my bathroom. Especially when we don't have drawers on our bathroom right now, and last time, our apt didn't even have any cupboards in the bathroom, so this is a life saver. Its like 12 bucks to buy this shoe organizer at walmart ;)
and I hang up my straightener, blow dryer, and curling irons on a hook on the back of the door so the chords dont get all tangled and that way they can cool up there too!

Here are some more tricks
Do you ever have makeup under your eyes?
maybe every time you wake up?
maybe by 4 pm every day?
maybe you take your makeup off in the shower?

Well, everyone else notices it, and it makes us look like we are hung over or super tired. So here is a super super easy trick!

Just take a cue-tip
roll it in your mouth to get the end all wet
and the saliva actually takes mascara off!!!
just compare my before and after shots, and look at all the black on that cue tip!
Super easy!

***************
Buy cheap, buy ahead. I bought all these 9 shirts for like $3.50. I am not going to be using any of them right now, but I will def use them all in the next year and a half. I highly suggest thrift store shopping, yard sales, asking friends who might be done having kids if they have stuff to give you. Then think ahead for what you will need. We have saved sooooo  much money this way! We didn't buy any clothes for the first year of Eli's life!

Here is a fun trick for your hair.
Sometimes when I take out a bun my hair looks like this:

or when I let my hair air dry it looks like this:

EASY FIX!!!!!

just let your hair air dry, or pull it out of that pony tail or whatever and just blow dry it while combing it with a pick (or something that won't make it all statiky or frizzy)!!!!
(another tip for straighter hair is to blow dry it like this, from the roots down, that way all the frizz and everything is going in the direction you want it. So part your hair first, then when you blow dry it, blow it from the roots down while combing it with a pick)

So, my hair literally went from this:
to this:
in like one min...then super easy straightening! because the blowdryer has done almost all of it but way faster than the straightener could!

Here's another annoying one you can alleviate.
Do you ever wake up with a bald spot? or maybe bad bed head??
I guess i sleep right there on the back of my head because its there every time i wake up. No amount of brushing will get this bald spot off the back of my head
#noimnotbald #butitlookslikeitifidontfixit

Easy fix with no shower!

#yesthisishowifeelwheniseemybaldspot

Just take a comb and rat your hair.
Yes, i did grow up in idaho, and we did rat and super poof our hair, but hear me out!
Just rat that area so that the hair is going in all different directions and won't fall into that gross t part in 2 mins....it might make your hair stick up, BUT then lay your hair down. It won't make your hair any poofier or anything. Just keep pulling it down or flattening it, and you'll get rid of that bed head and not have poofy Idaho or Utah hair! and it won't fall back into that bed head part for the rest of the day!
Super easy!

On another similar, but more serious note:
This weekend we had a great stake conference
It reminded me of a lot of things I should do.
mainly: aim to become celestial!!

isn't that what this life is all about???
I feel like all things point back to this.
One of the main things is how we respond to trials!
"Your success and happiness, both now and in the eternities,
depend largely on your responses to the difficulties of life."

wow...i might be failing in that area.
ok, lets be more positive, I am struggling in that area.

confession:
I have a motto: pregnancy is hard for me.
that's not a good motto. I shouldn't just be "hanging in there" and waiting for the trial to be done as Elder Pearson states in this most recent General Conference in his talk called "Stay by the Tree
I should be enduring to the end. I should be asking what i can do to learn from the trial. i should replace complaining with gratitude.

I have tried really hard this pregnancy to be grateful. And I am. Look at my sweet little family right now!
(this is the cow pasture that is across from our apt that Eli wants to see all the time. we go at least 2-3x/day It melts my heart how cute he is telling us about the cows and horses for 10 mins, depsite the fact that he can only say "horsie" and "cow")
(and here is my wonderful husband who said this to me the other day when i was apologizing for crying to him everyday for 4 days in a row on our lunch time chat: "I don't care. Cry if you need to. I would rather you be doing what the Lord wants by furthering our eternal family, than to not be crying." Ok, not a direct quote, but thats the jist. Isn't he so sweet, and have such a great eternal perspective??) I am so grateful for a wonderful husband!

Anyway. I have gotten into the habit of being grateful that my life isn't like {insert horrible scenerio} or I feel myself being grateful because I realize "it could be worse."

I realized though that just being grateful that things arent worse isnt complete.
I need to be more like Nephi and say "what am I supposed to learn from this trial?"
(once again found under Adversity in True to the Faith)

I need to do as Elder Holland tells us:
(last quote)

"faith builds on the past but never longs to stay there"

So, there is my sermon for the day
Be grateful, but also be learning and not wishing away our trials or just getting through it!

On another note, I hope you have wonderful hair after my fun tutorials
and bag free eyes
and no bed head
and a cleaner bathroom :)
