Did you know that 3 years ago this week, Nate and I went on our first date??? um...why am I even telling you this?? well, I realized that I wrote one of my first blog posts the day we went on our first date, and it was all about "births" in my life...maybe I should go back and add that it was the "birth" of one of the best things to ever happen to me #stillinlove #sogladwewentonthatfirstdate

And today is Good Friday!
Look, Eli is getting all dressed up for the occasion
#okjustkidding last night he wanted to dress up like dad was dressing up for home teaching

Wow! Easter is here!
#denvermissedthememo
I remember easter when i was a young lad #orlady ...I loved it at our house, Growing up, my mom....i mean the easter bunny, hid baskets for all of us children to wake up to on saturday morning. (man, he must have been tired #wehaveamillionkids, he started recruiting me when i was 12ish to help with the deeds of making and hiding the baskets)...anyway. We would wake up and find our basket. We each got one beloved Reeses Egg (my dad always got two, but i guess he earned it working and all #loveyoudad #noididnteverstealone #okmaybe)...anyway. We would watch saturday morning cartoons #shoutouttorecess #pepperann and I remember we would carefully unwrap these golden peanut butter treats and I would nibble the outside edges and then just lick the inside til it was gone, because we only got one, and only once a year :)
Anyway, then we would dye eggs (and make egg salad sandwiches #whichiwillforeverthinkaregross #andsmellgross #andmakeeveryonesmellgross)...but we always did.
(Too bad we didnt have real bunnies back then, eli is spoiled...maybe they're laying eggs!)
anyway, back to my childhood...to my father's despair, the day would surely end with that crinkly colored "basket filler" stuff all over the house #itsonlyonceayeardad #heputupwithalot
BUT on sunday...the playing was over. We would go to church and not do any egg hunts or whatever. and I think that my mom helped us realize that easter egg hunts and dying eggs were fun, but we focused on the true meaning of Easter on Sunday! The resurrection of Christ.
I loved our tradition, and our children will enjoy the same. Easter fun stuff on Saturday, and Christ centered on Sunday #thatwaywe'renotmeanparents #butstillfocusonchrist
This weekend, we do have some super fun plans to be with good friends and family, and easter egg hunts....BUT it is the most exciting because we get to hear about Christ all day long on saturday AND sunday with General Conference! (to learn more about how we have a living prophet and how he speaks God's word to us today, you can visit here)
I get excited about Easter because I love learning more about Christ and his ressurrection and atonement. It has changed my life so much, and I know it can change yours!
Because He lives, I know that I will live again.
Because he lives, I know that the atonement's power is real and that I can be cleansed of my sins and become a better person!
Because he lives, I am so much happier and know I can live with my family forever!!
Here is a beautiful video of how Christ helps us, and what Easter means to each of us
#becausehelives
I hope you all enjoy and watch general conference this weekend! I know their words will inspire and change your life!
Happy easter!!!!
