plungers and hotdogs

Yes, this is my cutie pie son playing with a plunger. he loves it! he also loves the toilet bowl cleaner (not the cleaning product, but the scrubber thingy haha). like, not just loves it, but LOVES it. more than any other toy, except our electric guitar....*auto correct,* electric piano (who would let their child play with their electric guitar?? #i'mnofiveforfighting)

anyway, if you think i am a crazy mom, and he's going to die. feel free to call me. i try to keep them clean! i wash them out and stuff and there is no way of keeping him away from these things....just like there is no way of keeping him away from the toilet.    Ok, i can hear you, yes i could shut the door, but what about when im getting ready or forget to shut the door?

also, if you are a saving type of mom. i need some sleep saving. Eli is going crazy on his sleeping (not at night, just naps). I dont know what to do. he has been a GREAT sleeper since we sleep trained him at 5 months (yes, i am totally for sleep training, it changed our lives!). But he has been fussy for like 2 months. At first i was like, "oh, its just teething." but when no teeth came through for 1.5 months, i was like "what the heck? you were an angel child, then turned into mr whine all day."  I am a happy mom, and would never say that to his face. but seriously, what happened?   but through this time he has been doing weird naps, so nate thinks he is just tired #phew #imgladitsnotthatimabadmom

So here's the dealio. He normally takes two naps. then he started not falling asleep for a long time for his first nap, and consequently he would wake up later. then he wouldnt fall asleep at all for his second nap. then the evening is CRAZY because he's super tired. (to answer your questions, yes he is 16 months but still needs/needed 2 naps. yes he sleeps all through the night #betterthanhispregomom, and he goes to sleeps from 8pm-7am. his naps are normally 10-12 or 12:30 and 3-4 or 4:30)

Ok. So then i was like, ok, lets just put you to bed a little later every day until you get used to taking one big nap at noon....we got him to noon and one nap, and that worked for 2 days. then the next 4 days he was even more cranky and tired on only one nap! ahhhhh. so then for two days we gave him two naps, but guess what????? he didnt take the second nap. yesterday and today i tried giving him a 20 min nap around 9:30 so he could make it til noon, but it still didnt go so well, his "supposed to be long second nap" turned into one hour!

what should I do? earlier nap time? earlier bed time? still give him the 20 min morning nap and hope he sleeps for a long time in the afternoon? or just wait it out?

SWITCH GEARS:
I was holding him and rocking him to sleep yesterday. He is so precious. He sucks his thumb and will just curl up on my chest like a newborn. i could live like that. I kinda never want to stop having babies just so i can have that feeling of cuddliness (then i remember i have to be pregnant to have a baby and that i cant handle 20 bazillion kids...so i will just take what the Lord wants to give me and hold on to that feeling).

Anyway, it is so precious. I love him. He makes me so happy. Having children has changed my life, i feel so much closer to Christ because of it! So during those parts of the day that he is clinging to my leg and crying (hopefully only til we figure out why he is so fussy all the time)....i just have to hold on to those memories, and smile :)

*********************************

Last night, we went to this Blue and Gold Banquet for my husband's church calling of Cub Master. It was pirate themed. I told Eli to take a look around and soak it all in, because he will prob never go to this decked out of a ward activity again.

It was crazy. My phone died after a few pictures, otherwise i would show you the whole thing, and pinterest would prob go crazy all over my blog pinning such awesome decorations.

This first picture is of a boat they BUILT! like my husband stood on it for the skits. up above the sails is a look out place with sponge bob tied to it, haha.
In the foyer they had a skeleton dressed as a cub scout and an alligator head eating his foot! A REAL ALLIGATOR HEAD!!! who even knows where to get one of those?

Here is nate all dressed up? what do you say? should he grow a beard? #beardfadgoingcrazy
i wonder what eli is thinking with his tongue all sticking out like that???

then they had the cute little scouts serve us food. and we had a salad, and some fruit, and chips and hotdogs. Yep, hotdogs. You guys! i ate a hotdog yesterday. I got home last night and my legs were all swollen and super weird, i told nate it was from the processed chips and hotdogs i ate. he just laughed.

Ok, I know one hotdog won't kill me, because we ate a million when we were kids. My mom had to like ration them out for us and have a monthly limit!!  but, when i turned all healthy a five years ago, that is something that i havent eaten since. so it just made me feel kinda gross.

For those of  you who know me, you know why i am freaking out. for those of you who dont...ill breifly explain that i am into "clean eating." meaning unprocessed (aka whole foods) and plant based. Ill write more in another post of why. but i know you might think some other diet is healthier, but after all my research (and i have done alot, plus i got my degree in this), this is the healthiest diet that i feel like is possible while not going crazy over budget buying all organic foods. So we try to live the majority of our life like this  (so keep your own crazy diet to yourself, and no hate comments please)

but ill eat whatever people give me when im with them. so i ate a hot dog...but not today! look at this amazing meal!

what is it? might you ask? Its whole wheat pita bread with hummus, tomatoes, pineapple, lettuce and a super healthy raspberry vinaigrette. with some chips and hummus on the side (that is my latest craving: On the Border chips...mmmmmm) #basicallyasaladwithpita
(I don't eat gluten free anymore, but thats another story for another day, so ill tell you the miracle in a later post!)

I was so excited once i went and picked up my walmart to go order today since we havent shopped in like forever!  we seriously had no fruits and veggies or on the border chips in the house, and i was dying because everyone needs lots of F&V! so i brought in all my groceries (see below, it was a ton! but im a super strong pregnant lady who now lives on the first floor, so i can handle it!)
and immediately made this amazing meal and devoured it! dont worry, i had seconds ;)

that's all! i hope you enjoy your day! the sun is shining here in Denver and it is lovely! I might bask in it while i read my scriptures, then ill prob put away the groceries :) happy friday!!!!!!!
